About the Artist

Clair Robins

"The Escape series explores space, reflections, light, freedom, and subtle illusions on the east coast of the UK. It is my response to the paradise I love, yearned for, and managed to enjoy due to the pandemic lockdown restrictions in 2020 briefly. The seascapes symbolise my retaliation to being restricted yet quietly reflect my frustration with being confined for the summer. Open vast space, clear skies and the tide's ebb and flow calmly create the real with an edge of the imaginary."

Biography

Clair Robins is a photographic visual artist and educator. Her approach and style have evolved throughout her life and overlapped traditional and digital processes. Much of Robins’ artworks have stemmed from observation of the mundane and daily life. Nostalgia, memories and conceptionally constructed scenarios often emerge within her storytelling. Visual language, narrative and aphoristic humour collide with her compositions and observations. Within her still-life studies, artefacts and portraiture often merge and combine with memorabilia, objects, and mementoes. Robins’ passionate reflection on who we are and how we live connects on many levels. Ultimately, it creatively examines our existence and world.
