About the Artist

Petra Jaenicke

Petra Jaenicke's art explores the concept of reality and how it is filtered through subjective perception. Her work is based on the assumption that our perception creates realities around us. She transforms photography to show reality as an interpretation, creating something new and detached from reality. Her surreal compositions let the naturalism of the image fade out, enhancing its inherent meaning. Her multi-layered artistic photography leads to a dance with the real, showing strength and fragility. She believes that art is a form of hope and healing.
