Oana M. Baković

Oana M. Baković believes that flowers are essential to our culture and history. They are iconic symbols of femininity, strength and the vital forces for our planet’s health. She sees flowers as indispensable in the interactions between plants and natural creatures. Baković uses wind and other natural ingredients as props weaving vibrant hues and textures together to bring the natural world to life. This immersive process helps her to get inside these micro-realms, mirroring the natural beauty of her surroundings. She provokes the observer to see past the beauty of the cascading effects of climate change.

Biography

Oana M. Baković was born in Constanta, on the shores of the Black Sea, to a Croatian father and a Romanian mother. She is a fine art photographer with a predilection for the wild and endangered flora, peculiar plants, big bodies of water and motion. She started documenting her family life separately from her work as an advertising professional. Recently Baković focuses on art, with an interest in the natural world. She has refined her technique of using a flash with ambient light.
